The Clever Crow and The Pitcher
Once there lived a crow in a jungle. It was then summer season. The day was very hot, when the crow became thirsty. He flied hither and thither in search of water. But he could not find water anywhere.

After some time, the crow came across a pitcher that was lying under a tree. He peeped into it, and found that there was water, but at a very low level, and it was not possible for him to suck it with his beak. He was disheartened. But he did not leave the place, because the presence of water in the pitcher made him eager to drink it.

The crow's eyes suddenly fell on a heap of pebbles which were lying under a nearby tree.

A wonderful idea came to his mind that by dropping the pebbles into the pitcher, the level of the water could be brought to a higher level. So he began to drop the pebbles one by one into the pitcher; and finally, the level of the water was raised by the process, and and he drank it to his heart's content.

Two Friends and The BearOnce Mohan and Sohan lived in a small village. They were friends. They lived together in that village. Once they made a plan to go to his friends house for a function. They passed through a forest. Wild animals lived in that forest.

On the way, they saw a bear. Sohan was selfish. He climbed up a tree to save his life. Mohan could not climb up the tree. He lay down on the ground. He held his breath. The bear smelt him and took him to be dead.

He went away. Sohan came down. He asked Mohan "What was the bear speaking in your ears?" Mohan replied, "He advised me to beware of those friends who run away in time of danger".

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

It was a hot summer day. Sun was shining bright up in the sky. A lion was sitting under the shade of a big tree and in some time got asleep. Nearby that tree, there was a hole, in which there lived a mouse. When the lion was sleeping, the mouse came out of its hole and saw him asleep.

Unaware of the lion's strength, it got tickled by an idea. It thought of waking up the lion by running over his body just for fun.

Unfortunately, the lion seized it in his strong paw. The mouse pleaded for its life. Being generous by nature, the lion set it free. The mouse promised to help the lion if it ever got the chance. The lion laughed aloud at this. After all, how could a tiny mouse help the king of the jungle?

A few days later, the mouse was passing through the jungle when he saw the same lion trapped in a hunter's net. Immediately, it set to work, gnawing at the ropes. Very soon the tiny mouse had set the lion free.

Remember, mercy never goes unrewarded.

There was a big field near by a village. There was a farmer who had some cows. The cows used to eat grass from the field. One day a herd of cows came to the field to eat grass. They saw a dog lying on the grass in the field.

One of the cow pleaded, “Please, will you get up! We are hungry. We have to eat these grass”. The dog did not take heed of it.

Once again another cow pleaded, “Please, let us have our grass”. We are so much hungry. The dog snarled and the cow stepped back.

There was a bull also eating grass near by. A wise cow ran up to the bull and told him all the matter. The bull came and requested to the dog, “Get out, please! Let them have their food”. There was no reply from the Dog. The bull became angry. He bellowed loudly and stamped his legs. The dog got frightened and ran for his life.

A rich man had a slave. The man was very cruel to him every time. So the slave became sick of his cruel treatment. He decided to run away from his master. He got a chance and ran away to nearest forest. There was a cave and he hides himself in a cave. As he lay there and thinking his master. At that time he heard the groaning of the lion.

He was frightened. As the lion came near to the cave, he saw that he was limping. The lion approached the slave and held out his paw. The slave saw that his paw was swollen and a thorn was stuck in it. The slave drew out the thorn very gently. The lion was relieved of pain and went away. Afterwards they became friends.

Many days passed away. By chance the slave was arrested by his master's men. He was brought to his master who ordered his men to put him before a hungry lion. The day for punishment was fixed.
The people of the town were invited to see the wonderful fight between the lion and the slave. The lion was freed from the cage to pounce upon the slave when he recognized him.
He now advanced slowly towards him and began to lick his hands out of love. It was the same lion, his friend. The slave too, patted him.

It was a wonderful sight for the people. The lion was given to him as a reward. The slave was set free.

Moral: Kindness is always rewarded.

Once upon a time there lived a swan who used to spend time in various playful activities on a lake. Once an owl visited him in the forest and requested him to be friends, after praising the swan a lot. The swan agreed to be friends with him and they used to spend time near the lake a lot of days.

But the owl soon got bored of the place and told the swan, "I am going back to my home in the Lotus wood, and if you ever want to visit me you can visit me there." The swan, after many days once decided to pay a visit to the owl in the Lotus wood. On reaching Lotus wood, it could not find the owl, which was hiding in the dark hole.

The owl asked the swan to take rest till daylight was over and told him that he could come out only at night. The swan decided to take rest.

It so happened that a group of merchants were passing by the next day early morning. The merchants chanted some hymns, and to that the owl replied with a hoot. Thinking that this was a bad omen, the merchants then decided to shoot the owl down. But in the meantime the owl had fled and taken refuge in a nearby hole near the shore of the lake.

But the swan did not move. The arrow from the merchants came and hit the swan and it was killed.
